Ever since I made this French onion grilled cheese sandwich, I’m on another grilled cheese wagon. And if you’re too, then this leftover turkey grilled cheese sandwich recipe is for you. And with leftovers turkey, it tastes like another complete meal.
The ingredients
This classic American grilled cheese sandwich is so comforting! Here’s what you need:
- Cheese. A combination of grated medium cheddar and gouda work like magic
- Bread. Thick sliced white bread is the best!
- Butter. Unsalted butter
- Turkey
- Cranberry sauce and I suggest this homemade cranberry sauce

How to make the best grilled cheese
- Spread the butter on one side of each piece of bread. Add turkey, grated cheese, cranberry sauce on the inside of the bread, and top with the second piece of bread that is spread with the butter
- Melt butter in a cast-iron skillet over medium until beginning to foam. Add prepared sandwich and turn heat on to low. Make sure that you aren’t burning the butter and flip as soon as one side is golden brown and continue with another side
