What are the ingredients to make no-bake salted caramel oat squares?
No unique ingredients are required to make these squares. You only need
- Butter
- Peanut butter
- Butterscotch chips
- Marshmallows
- Oat Cereal
- Milk chocolate chips
- Dark chocolate chips
- Salt or sea salt
I use natural, no sugar, peanut butter for this recipe as it helps cut down on the sweetness of the bars, but it works well with any type of nut butter. If there are nut allergies in the house, you can substitute with a nut butter alternative such as Sunbutter.
How to make no-bake salted caramel oat squares?
First, you need melted butter, then combine it with peanut butter and butterscotch chips until they are all melted and combined. Add in marshmallow and continue to heat and stir until well blended.
Add oats in a bowl combine with liquid mixture over the top. Press into a 7×11 baking pan (baking dish) lined with parchment paper. Press with the back of your spoon or your slightly dampened hand. Set aside.
Melt chocolate chips and the remaining butter in a microwave until chocolate is smooth. Then pour melted chocolate over the oat squares. Place in the fridge for 10 minutes and sprinkle with salt. Return to the fridge then cut into squares.
Yep, super easy and no baking required.

No-Bake Salted Caramel Oat Squares
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1/2 cup butterscotch chips
- 2.5 cups marshmallows
- 5 cups oat cereal
Chocolate top:
- 2/3 cups milk chocolate chips
- 1/3 cups dark chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Melt butter in a medium pot over medium heat, then add peanut butter and butterscotch chips. Heat until peanut butter and butterscotch chips are melted.
- Add marshmallows and continue to heat and stir until marshmallows are melted and mixture is well blended.
- Place oat cereal in a large bowl, then pour liquid mixture over the top. Mix well with a wooden spoon, then press into a 7×11 pan lined with parchment paper. Press with the back of your spoon or your slightly dampened hand. Set aside.
- Chocolate top: place chocolate chips and butter in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 20 seconds, stir until chocolate is smooth.
- Working quickly, pour melted chocolate over the oat squares and smooth out with rubber spatula. Place in the fridge for about 10 minutes until chocolate is beginning to set, then remove and sprinkle with salt. Return to fridge and allow chocolate to fully set, then cut into squares.
